Marconi Wireless Stock Certificate (1918)
An original Marconi stock certificate (1918). Guglielmo Giovanni (1874 – 1937) was an Italian investor who, among other things, completed the first trans-Atlantic wireless connection in 1902. He shared the 1909 Nobel Prize in physics with Karl Ferdinand Braun for their developments in wireless telegraphy. He founded Marconi Wireless and Telegraph of America (“Marconi Wireless”) in 1899. Its assets we purchased by General Electric in 1919 (hence the cancellation stamp on the certificate in 1920). The Marconi Wireless assets became the foundation of Radio Corporation of America (“RCA”).
